2003 Carrier 4-ton heat pump defrosting-BEST STEAM SHOW EVER!
| As of January 2012, the best steam show I have ever gotten on video! I also have footage of several of these units running in COOL mode on a really hot day. I believe this building was built in the late 1970s or early 1980s. The center of town has lots of old, historic buildings, and this building is located in an area on the "outskirts" of town where the historic older buildings mix with slightly newer buildings like the one at which these heat pumps and air-conditioners are located. Now, here's the interesting part. All but four of the units on this property are heat pumps (the Bryant Legacy Line, GE Executive, and Trane XB1000 are all straight-cool units, plus the Liebert Computer Support System). That said, I cannot figure out why four of the units are straight-cool, unless that part of the building has electric baseboard or some other heat source. It is a building with multiple separate businesses in it, so some might businesses might not require heat in some parts of the building. What's even more interesting is that most of the buildings across the street have gas heat, and one of those buildings is a large restaurant across the street with four split-system straight-cool air-conditioners. There are a couple of older, but heavily renovated buildings that I know for a fact have straight-cool units. A lot of these really old buildings have the central air-conditioners up on ... |
