Inside GE AC4400 Canadian Pacific Locomotive # 9777
| This was shot on June 4 th 2010 at Franklin Park, Illinois. This was part of the power they had on display at there Franklin Park Railroad Daze 2010. This is a GE (General Electric) Locomotive. Rated at 4400 Horsepower. The AC4400 was the first locomotive to offer optional self-steering trucks That was intended to increase adhesion and reduce wear on the rail head. The extra cost option was specified by CP, CSX and KCS. CSX ordered many AC4400CW with 20000 lb. extra weight. The extra weight was to increase tractive effort. These same units were modified in 2006-2007 with " High Tractive Effort " software upgrade. ( HTE Software ) CSX has redesignated these modified units from CW44AC to CW44AH. Union Pacific has the most at : 1338. CSX about 615. Canadian Pacific 447. KCS ( Kansas City Southern) 175. and BNSF has about 121. Hope you all like it. Listen to the volunteer talk about how long trains are normally.... 5 to 10 miles long!!! This is one of my favorite locomotives! |
