One thing that all of us must do in life is eat. And unless you eat out at restaurants every night, that probably means that you probably visit the grocery store every once in awhile. The next time you go shopping, it might be time to start thinking about purchasing items that are a little less harmful upon the environment. This is just one way to “go green”. And don’t worry this doesn’t mean you have to eat fruits and veggies the rest of your life. But there are some easy choices you can make which will lessen your carbon footprint upon the environment.
Try not to purchase items that are packaged individually. If you have ever purchase pudding snacks that come in a six pack before you know what this means. Many grocery shoppers like purchasing them as its extremely convenient. Especially if you have kids and you make their lunches, its easy to drop yogurt, pudding, snacks, and drinks in their brown lunch sack.
It will not take you that much longer if you purchase the items in bulk. Individually packaged items produce more waste and are therefore more harmful to the environment. You could always separate the food at home and place them in reusable containers for either yourself or your kids.
Have you ever seen other shoppers bring their own personal bags with them? Now its your chance. You can either bring your own bags made of cloth or other material that is recyclable. No longer will you have to use the plastic and paper bags that your grocery store.
