Do Your Part For Plastic Bag Conservation

These days, people are becoming more and more wasteful. We waste time, we waste money and we definitely waste resources. You might not think that one person can make a big difference, when it comes to that, but you’re wrong.

For example, every time you throw out a sandwich or zipper bag that could be reused or use one that is far too big for the item you’re putting in it, you are wasting both money and resources. In fact, it can be argued that you’re wasting time, too, since you have to go get more bags more often.

One way to be less wasteful, when it comes to food storage bags, is to buy many different sizes. Up front, you’re buying more than you need. In the long run, though, you’ll always have the size you need on hand. The right size bag is more efficient and takes up less space.

Another tip is to reuse bags for the same purpose as often as you can. Many people have a tendency to put something in a bag and then, when that bag is later emptied, they throw it away, since it’s “used”. However, certain foods and other items leave little or no residue in a bag. So, you can reuse the bag one or two more times for the same purpose or, in some cases, a different purpose.

One big thing to be careful of here is that you do not reuse bags for food that originally had other things in them, such as coins or batteries. You can refill a bag that was used for such objects multiple times with similar objects, but not with food.
