Homemade Solar Panels and 3 Things You Should Know
It was only a short while ago that solar panels only appeared on technology and science documentaries. Following that you only ever saw these installed on expensive buildings or state-of-the-art establishments. However due to home-made versions being made readily available it is now common to see photovoltaic cells on the roofs off your average household.
The DIY version has made this form of cheap and renewable energy more accessible to the masses, but there are a few things you need to know or perhaps a few questions you need answered before you decide to install your own.
Cloudy Climates.
Many people ask a fairly sensible question of whether these panels will work and pick up enough of the sunlights UV rays even if it is cloudy. The answer is yes. They absolutely will work even if the sun is not shining brightly. Of course the brighter the sun for more efficient they are but as long as it is daylight the solar panel will pick up energy from the sun.
You do not need to be a DIY expert.
Many people think that building their own photovoltaic cell will be very difficult and even need to be a DIY expert or a super brainy scientist. The fact of the matter is that there are many great kits available both online and at your hardware store that have made it possible for anyone to construct their own.
You may need to be slightly handy, but if you can hang a picture then you probably already have the skills you need to build your own panel.
Not all DIY kits are built the same.
A simple search on the Internet will reveal lots of different websites where you can get your hands on some instruction manuals that tell you everything you need in order to create your own panel. However some of the kits or instructions are not always that well written.
This can be a little frustrating, exactly the same as when you’re building flat pack furniture and instructions simply don’t add up or you end up missing a vital screw that holds everything together.
Obviously this can make building your homemade solar panel very difficult.
